European Mela 2004 in Berlin
The Mela took place in Berlin for the first time and many devotees from different parts of the world came. It took place under the guidance of our dear Guru Maharaj as always and he was giving an innumerable quantity of lectures every day - 7 in the morning, 9,30 in the morning and an evening lecture except the spontaneous lectures given during different parts of the day.
Rest of the time we had the divine company of Sadhu Maharaja, Vaisnava Maharaja and Keshava Maharaja who were giving classes also. Because of the expected installation of Gauranga Radha Govindasundara in Berlin, Sadhu Maharaja told us the story of the coming of Chaytania Mahaprabhu deity in Mungir and Radha Madan Mohan. Keshava Maharaja told us the story of installation of Gauranga Radha Gopivallabha in Nanda Falva, Hungary during the communist time. On the second day was the inauguration of a new centre of conscious art which is situated near Berlin. Prabhu Bertolt is the person who made this beautiful place with a big artistic altar and many decorations creating a charming atmosphere enthusing the development of spiritual consciousness. We had a fire ceremony in the garden for the opening, swimming in the lake near the centre and delicious prasadam. Actually all the Mela the German devotees cooked wonderful prasadam. One of the days we had a big harinam in the centre of Berlin. The devotees reached there by metro and we passed through the Brandenburg gate with big kirtan. Many tourists who were there joined the singing and made pictures of the devotees.
Sadhu Maharaja was singing after his "Radhe Radhe Goivinda" and was enthusing the passing by people to sing and dance with him. Next days the program was in a park in a little luna park for children where we had another Vedic fire ceremony for the marriage ceremony of two couples - prabhu Ananda Shanti from Berlin and mataji Gopal Bhakti from Peru and
prabhu Puroshottama from Colombia and mataji Gupta Vrindavan from Germany. The last couple also have a son to who Guru Maharaj gave the name Rasa Raj. Two days in the park were full with concerts, music presentations from different devotees - one family devotees from Hawaii who played beautifully a harp and a special Japanese flute, matajis from Belgium and Holland - Hara Prana devi and Shiromani devi with very beautiful presentation on guitar with songs in English, Vaishnava Maharaja with performance of mantras who as always accompanied the devotees with his mrdanga playing and guitar, mataji Manah Siksha from Sweden and many others. Prabhu Nitay Charan was caring after the distributing of ice-cream for the devotees. He made very delicious ice-cream for which we hope to get the precious recipe and also huge hamburgers with gluten and vegetables.
The last evening in the park finished very late. Gurudev gave torch with fire to every devotee and started very ecstatic kirtan together with the mrdanga playing of Vaisnava Maharaja and singing of Sadhu Maharaja. After Guru Maharaj gave a lecture at 10, 30 in the evening telling us the story about the first preaching behind the iron curtain in the East Berlin when Guru Maharaja was crossing the Wall in civil dresses and was preaching to the people there arranging meetings in different places every time in parks and taking viza for one day and going back in the evening to West Berlin. Last day was left for the most special events - darshan before the installation of the deities Gauranga Radha Govindasundara and initiations with fire yajna. Gurudev gave initiations to five devotees: two from Sweden - Brahma Samhita prabhu and Vasudeva prabhu and to three devotees from Germany. Manah Siksha mataji is going back to Sweden with two new god brothers and the deities Sri Sri Gour Nitay and Lila Raj prabhuji - the son of Ascalita prabhu and mataji Kamala manjari are going back to Paris with Radha Krsna deities all given from Gurudev. Sidhanta prabhu from USA gave wonderful seminar on preaching bhakti yoga through yoga courses. He made very nice program with many practical advises and complexes for teachings and photos. We hope to have them soon online in Hotline.
One of the lectures of Gurudev was on the sannyas order connecting to the fact that our godbrother prabhu Drstadyumna is waiting to accept this order of renunciation.
