Harinam Sankirtan ki jay! Srila Prabhupada ki jay!.
Dear devotees,
A big cordial hug for all of you! I have arrived to Berlin after a long tour in the Orient.
I want to share this message with all of you, to make the adults conscious about the effect their acts have on the education of their children.
It happens very often, based on the calculating of their momentary situation and the sense gratification they prefer, that they make decisions that affect their children. Considering that the children are extremely sensible, the faults of the adults have serious repercussions on them. As the children cannot talk about this or reveal immediately the impact from the shocks, the adults ignore the advices from the wise and the children are put in a terrible chess.
It is very difficult to find the perfect answers for each situation in the relative imperfection. Although the Vedas offer basic and perfect formulas for the coexistence of the family, very few people take anything very seriously. People justify their acts in many ways. Here are some considerations to help you to form your best criterion.
If you give your children ignorance, you will have ignorant children.
If you educate your children with wisdom, you will find wise children.
If you give protection to your children, you will have responsible children.
If the children get hostility between the parents, you will get insecure children.
If you lie for the children, they will become unconfident.
If you give the children pure consumption, they will lose the gratitude even towards their own parents.
If you feed your children with meat, fish and egg, they will become aggressive and without compassion.
If you give a hypocrite example to your children, they will become sad.
If you do not trust your children, they will be growing without self-esteem.
If you do not teach your children to pray with all their heart, they will not have any refuge.
If the parents intoxicate, the children will easily fall.
If the parents divorce, they will have depressed and stray children.
If the parents permit too much watching television, they will have foolish children without a good vocabulary.
If the parents do not worship God, they will have children without faith.
If the parents do not study the sacred scriptures, they will have children without any good authority.
If the parents do not sacrifice themselves for the family and for higher values, they will have selfish children.
If the parents want that their children run away from home at the first opportunity, they will be a shame.
To have children at home is a gift from God. It is each day a test of your quality as a father and a mother. Only those who are faithful in their searching for the truth, can understand that the service to our children is our service to the creator and maintainer of everything.
Mother nature has provided all of us with the reproducing ability, ever since our adolescence. So we should learn to become perfect pupils from young age, in order to become capable parents with high moral values for when we get this sacred task. When you have children, the principle of your joy should become their joy.
The spiritual light, our hearts, the voice in the holy scriptures and the instructions of the prominent masters, coincide unanimously that the love for God must be the love and the best education for our children and pupils.
Accomplish with severity. You will see the consequences in next life, and already in this life you will see the failure of not having given your best effort in loving and educating those who were depending on you.
A big hug for all of you.
Always your well-wisher,
Swami B.A. Paramadvaiti
