On May 9th, 2015 the first Chaski Fest was presented in the United States in Danbury, Chaski Fests guests receiving information on The Rights of Mother Earth initiative Connecticut at the Danbury City Center Green, through the efforts of Vrinda Northeast devotees, The World Conscious Pact – a global network of environmental activists, Occupy Danbury – a local activism group fighting against social and economic inequality, local volunteers, artists, cultural dance groups, activists, and over 150 guests.
Chaski Fests are worldwide gatherings of conscious artists, activists, and communities united toward promoting the message of environmental protection and cultural preservation. The day began with a Yoga Inbound demonstration by Vrinda Northeast Mataji Yogesvari Devi Dasi, and continued with performances ranging from cultural dance and Andean music to conscious poetry and drumming. The performers and bands included The Polynesian Dance Troupe, Nicole Jean, David Greenberg, Julian Cartwright, Kirtan singers, WSCU Drum Circle, Ecu-Chaskis, Station, Kirtan, Irish Dance Group, Fred Ball, The Red Hots, Toro Blues Band, The Atom Family, Three Legged Dog, Midnight Blues Band, and Al Rivoli.
The event was a great opportunity for organizations and activists to network and share their messages with the community. A primary focus of the event was collecting signatures to support The Rights of Mother Earth campaign, a global initiative geared toward encouraging political leaders to recognize legal rights for the environment. The Vrinda Northeast community looks forward to continuing to work with more conscious organizations and activists in the future to promote the message of environmental preservation and a conscious lifestyle.
